Immediate Openings for Pickup and Delivery Drivers (P&D)

Our elite team of P&D drivers are the face of YRC Freight to our customers.  As a P&D driver, you will be front and center as we provide safe, quality LTL solutions to our more than 200,000 customers across North America.

A typical day on the job as a P&D driver

As a P&D driver, you’ll start your day by getting your schedule, inspecting your loads and the equipment before leaving the facility. You’ll be in charge of operating commercial motor vehicles in urban, suburban and rural areas in all weather conditions to pick up and deliver freight.

The pickup and delivery of freight requires loading and unloading freight in various conditions at both YRC Freight and customer facilities using the same techniques and procedures as a dockworker. As a P&D driver, you’ll have opportunities to improve and update your professional skills on an ongoing basis.

P&D Driver Qualifications

  • Hold a Class A CDL
  • Have or can get the following endorsements: tankers, hazardous materials and double/triple (We can help walk you through the process.)
  • A clean motor vehicle record (MVR) — no DUIs and nore more than 1 accident within 36 months
  • Pass DOT physical, drug test and criminal background check

P&D Driver Requirements

  • Experience driving similar equipment in various traffic and weather conditions
  • Age 21, minimum
  • Record of safe and competent driving as demonstrated on state motor vehicle record
  • Valid Class A CDL with doubles/triples, hazmat and tank endorsements
  • Ability to work various shifts and days of the week, must have ability to work all required hours
  • Ability to record applicable freight information on bill of lading
  • Ability to match information on freight bill with description on bill of lading

P&D Driver Responsibilities 

  • Pick up and deliver freight efficiently
  • Safely operate a forklift and handle; lift, push and pull freight as needed
  • Build and maintain strong, long-term customer relationships
  • Drive an average of 150 miles a day and possibly work on the dock during your shift
